Alone

The Bible compares the Devil to a lion. When a lion is hunting, it will try to separate one of its prey from their herd. The lion knows that the target it has chosen will be easier to bring down if it is alone, or at least thinks it is. Satan does the same thing. He will try to make you believe you have been cornered, and you are all alone. The most important part of that, however, is that you're not!

I feel like this generation is filled with people who are struggling, depressed, and discouraged all because Satan has made them believe the lie that they are alone. He doesn't just do this to nonbelievers, either. Many Christians end up discouraged because they feel like they are running the race all by themselves. Recently I have felt this way myself. Now, I know there are believers all over the world running the race with me. Unfortunately, I had started to feel like there was no one running next to me, encouraging me. This, of course, was just one of Satan's many lies. However, we don't have to fall for the lies of the enemy. When the lion comes charging at you, cut him down with your double edged sword (Ephesians 6:16-17).

I looked up the definition of alone. It means "without anyone or anything." This is exactly how Satan wants you to feel. He wants you to believe you have no one fighting with you. However, that is not the only definition for the word. Sometimes when you're in a battle, you don't need God to change your circumstances; you need him to change your perspective. Another definition for the word is "separate from other people or things." Don't look at this as your lonely season, look at it as your growth season. When you become disconnected from everything else, you can become truly connected with God. You're not alone, and you're not forgotten. You're just called to be separate.

We are never alone. God promises to always be with us, and he's the only person we'll ever really need. "But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard" Isaiah 52:12. "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" Matthew 28:20b. God even says he is "a friend who sticks closer than a brother" Proverbs 18:24b. So put your trust and your faith in God because he is the only one who will never let you down.

Genesis 28:15 Deuteronomy 31:6 Jeremiah 1:8,19
