Every Hour I Need You

“Lord, I need You, oh, I need You. Every hour I need You. My one defense, my righteousness. Oh God, how I need You” – Matt Maher.

This past year has been kind of a crazy one for me. I actually felt first hand what people were talking about when they said sometimes your walk would feel like you were on mountain tops, and other times it would feel like you were in a valley. I just recently came out of a valley, and God has once again placed me on a mountain top. However, I’ve discovered something I need to work on through this. Many people find it harder to worship and stay in the word when they are going through hard times because they doubt God, or they’re angry at God or whatever it may be. I am the exact opposite. When I am going through a struggle, I cling to God. When I’m on a mountain top, I often forget that I need to cling to something. If you’re like me, we have to be careful because it is a lot easier to fall from a high place when you’re not holding on to something immovable.

God has been teaching me how to need him EVERY hour, not just when I feel in need of him. I am a visual learner, and if you read my other blogs, you may have noticed that God always gives me a visual of what he’s teaching me. This time he told me “just because winter is over, doesn’t mean plants stop needing the sun.” Just because your storm has ended, doesn’t mean you stop needing your shelter.

“For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wing” Psalm 61:3-4.

Never get to the point where God needs to give you a wake-up call. Ask him to give you a longing for his presence. Get desperate for him without being in the midst of a desperate situation. Run to his arms without having to be running from something. Seek him for no reason other than to simply find him, and you will find him in abundance. Time invested in the Lord is never wasted time. So, don’t wait until you have need for him because you’re desperate, be desperate for him because you need him.
