Fights till I'm Found

Writer's picture: ashtonlovvornashtonlovvorn

There’s no shadow You won’t light up, mountain you won’t climb up coming after me.

There’s no wall you won’t kick down, lie you won’t tear down coming after me.

Oh, the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God.

Oh, it chases me down, fights till I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine.

I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it; Still you give yourself away.

Oh, the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God.

I think if we could ever fully fathom how much God really loves us, we might implode. He has such incredible love for us, and sometimes I feel like we short change it. For example, we feel like he loves us less when we sin or mess up. That’s a lie from the enemy. God never stops pursing you, even in the midst of your sin or shortcoming. You don’t have to wait for a new day or until you feel forgiven. God is ALWAYS ready to extend grace to you, just turn around.

The reason I feel it can be hard to turn around is that we no longer view ourselves as worthy or we don’t forgive ourselves. The parable of the prodigal son is a perfect example of this situation between us and God.

“The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against Heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the Father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring a fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”’ Luke 15:21-24.

Our Father reacts this same way when we come home. He rejoices because he never once stopped loving you or pursuing you. You may have chosen other things over Him, but He never stopped choosing you. He knew every choice you would make before the world began. He knows it all and still He loves you. He will stop at nothing to show you his love. You have a God that rushes to your defense. Sometimes the turnaround seems scary for some reason, but it isn’t. When you turn around, you’ll fall into the arms of your loving father.

We have this amazing grace and love from God, but we should never take it for granted. “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sin is left” Hebrews 10:26. Use the grace that God has given you in order to do what He intended for you to do with it, cast off shame and live in His freedom. You will fail. You’re human, but when you fall, you don’t have to stay defeated. Satan wants you to believe you have to wait to get back up. He wants to keep you off the battle field as long as possible, but you don’t have to live under his reign.

You have been made a new creation, completely new. This doesn’t mean just a better version of your past self (like I believed for a long time). It means NEW. Meaning that thing you struggled with isn’t you anymore; that thing that happened to you isn’t you anymore; that past regret isn’t yours anymore. He has set you free and made you brand new, so walk in it! Don’t listen to the lies of the enemy. Your Heavenly Father loves you an incomprehensible amount. You never have to earn his love or his forgiveness. When you repent, you’re forgiven that instant. Your sin is cast as far as the east is from the west, and he remembers it no more! It’s no wonder we call Him our Savior! He is our good, good Father.
