The Lion

Lions. Kings of the Jungle. Strong. Mighty. Powerful. Cunning. Hunters. Predators.

The Bible makes comparisons to lions on multiple occasions. It shows Jesus as our triumphant lion of Judah in Revelation 5:5 when it says, " then one of the elders said to me, 'Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals."' Jesus represents all the admirable aspects of the lion: brave, powerful, king, strong, etc. However, the Bible also uses the creature to describe Satan. "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" 1 Peter 8. Satan is all of the negative aspects of a lion: deceptive, cunning, hunter, predator, etc.

I was watching the movie, The Lion King, today, and God began to show me truths within the movie. If you have never seen the movie, or if it's been a while, I'm going to link the scenes I'm going to be talking about the most here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84Irg8xn4bg --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTS4RU5My3U . Basically a quick plot summary for you is that the lion king, Mufasa, was murdered by his evil brother, Scar. Scar convinces Mufasa's young cub, Simba, that it was his fault. Scar then tells Simba to run away, to leave the kingdom and never come back. Simba does this. He flees from the kingdom and leaves behind his royal inheritance because of the lie Scar convinced him of. Simba later discovers the truth, defeats Scar, and fulfills his destiny of becoming king.

There are two truths God showed me about this movie. In both of them Scar is Satan, and we are Simba. The first is that Satan will try to convince you of a lie in order to delay your destiny. He is threatened by you, and he realizes he is defeated. So if he can't stop you because of who lives in you, he'll try to slow you down and make you as ineffective as he can. Simba bought into Scars lie and ran away from everything his father had left for him. We do the same thing when we buy into Satan's lies. God already has incredible things prepared for you to do. "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" Ephesians 2:10. Therefore, don't let Satan's lies that "you're not good enough," "you don't know enough," "you did (or didn't do) ___," stop you from the destiny God has planned out for you. God knew you and everything you would do, and he died for you already anyway. "For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends" 2 Corinthians 10:18.

The second truth I was shown is that when we do sin and mess up, God forgives us, but we let Satan keep us trapped in guilt even though there's no more reason to feel guilty. When Simba came back, the first thing Scar did was begin filling his head with the lie again. As soon as you give God your sin, Satan is going to come at you with doubt. "Did God really forgive you?" "How could he have, look at what you've done" "You're not worthy" "You're just a screw up so why even try" "You'll never be good enough. You'll always fall short." Every single one of those statements are lies. God is not like humanity. When he forgives, he forgets. You are chosen. You are called. You are worthy. "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light" 1 Peter 2:9.

Don't let the lies of Satan delay your destiny. God says you're good enough. God says you're exactly what he wants. He has made you royalty, so don't live like a prisoner.
